Pain & Injury
A large body of medical research going back decades has shown acupuncture’s effectiveness in reducing numerous forms of chronic and acute pain, including pain resulting from tension, injury, illness, surgery, and other medical conditions. In fact, pain and related symptoms are among the most common medical complaints we treat at Village Acupuncture. If left untreated, we know that pain can have damaging long-term effects on a patient’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
At Village Acupuncture, we have helped patients suffering from a wide range of conditions causing physical pain, numbness, stiffness, or weakness.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine have been used to improve mental health and emotional well-being for thousands of years. By targeting the mind-body connection, acupuncture can safely and effectively treat a range of mental health disorders with few or no side effects, which is why acupuncture is commonly used in conjunction with counseling, medication, and other interventions.
Acupuncture can be particularly effective in the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and related disorders by helping patients manage unwanted emotions, regulate mood shifts, and increase overall feelings of positivity, hopefulness, and well-being. By releasing endorphins and decreasing the body’s production of cortisol, a stress hormone, acupuncture can lower blood pressure and heart rate, relax tense muscles and tissue, and improve the circulation of blood, oxygen, and lymphatic fluids throughout the body—all of which can support improved mental health in a wide variety of patients.
At Village Acupuncture, we take pride in our compassionate, judgment-free approach to patient care.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are increasingly being used as adjunct therapies for patients undergoing a wide range of cancer treatments. A growing body of evidence from randomized clinical trials, for example, has shown that acupuncture can help patients manage cancer-related and post-operative pain, while also reducing chemotherapy or radiation symptoms such as neuropathy, constipation, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. One of the greatest benefits of acupuncture is that it rarely causes any adverse side effects in cancer patients who may already be experiencing a host of symptoms.
At Village Acupuncture, our practitioners have not only completed advanced training in oncology care and emotional support, but we have worked closely with many cancer-care specialists, including the oncology team at York Hospital, for more than a decade.

Women’s Health
As women age, disruptions in the body’s endocrine, metabolic, and hormonal systems can produce a bewildering variety of physical and psychological symptoms. Fortunately, acupuncture and herbal medicine have been used for centuries to help women manage these conditions.
By promoting increased blood flow and improved hormonal regulation, for example, acupuncture helps to regulate menstrual cycles and alleviate soreness, bloating, headaches, abdominal cramping, mood swings, and other symptoms associated with menstruation, premenstrual syndrome, or menstruation-related disorders.
Acupuncture can also effectively treat the symptoms that commonly attend menopause or perimenopause—a transitional period during which women may experience fluctuating estrogen levels and menstrual irregularities prior to the full onset of menopause. During menopause or perimenopause, women can experience a number of unwelcome symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, sleep problems, heart palpitations, vaginal dryness, anxiety, and anovulation (when an egg fails to release from the ovary during a menstrual cycle).
Many of the symptoms that result from menstruation, perimenopause, and menopause are commonly treated with birth control or other synthetic hormones, which can have problematic side effects for many women. Unlike these conventional therapies, acupuncture is not only a safe and natural way to balance and regulate endocrine and hormone fluctuations, but the treatments can also improve digestion and sleep quality, strengthen the immune system, relax tense or sore muscles, and calm the nervous system.
Common Conditions
Irregular menstruation or menstrual cycles, including painful periods (dysmenorrhoea), heavy periods (menorrhagia), or the absence of periods (amenorrhoea)
Menopause and perimenopause symptoms (hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, sleep disruption)
Menstrual and premenstrual symptoms (bloating, cramping, fatigue, irritability, soreness)
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
Fertility, Prenatal & Postpartum Care
Research has demonstrated that acupuncture and Chinese medicine can support hormonal regulation, increase reproductive probability, and treat a wide variety of fertility-related conditions in both men and women.
For example, acupuncture can support improved fertility in women by increasing blood flow to the uterus, ovaries, and other reproductive organs, which can help to improve egg production and the receptivity of the uterus to implantation—the ovaries must be nourished with nutrient-rich blood to function properly and a strong blood flow to the uterus helps to thicken the endometrial lining. Studies have also shown that acupuncture can increase the likelihood that fertility treatments such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF) will be successful. In Men, the increased circulation that results from acupuncture can also improve sperm production, motility, and quality.
At Village Acupuncture, we specialize in fertility, prenatal, and postpartum care, and we are proud to have supported many individuals and couples throughout their reproductive and pregnancy journeys.
Common Conditions
Diminished ovarian reserve (DOR)
Endometriosis
Enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH)
Low or diminished libido
Low sperm count (oligospermia)
Prenatal and postpartum symptoms (acid reflux, morning sickness, anxiety, depression, mood swings, morning sickness, nausea, restlessness, difficulty sleeping)
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
Preeclampsia
Acupuncture treatments, targeted herbal formulas, and prescribed dietary plans are among the most widely used forms of preventive medicine on the planet. When our internal systems become unbalanced or dysregulated—due to injury, disease, malnutrition, depression, inactivity, or other causes—complex and overlapping symptoms can emerge, making it more difficult to identify and treat the underlying conditions contributing to poor health.
At Village Acupuncture, we combine traditional and modern approaches to preventative care to help your body return to homeostasis—optimal functioning of the body’s internal systems—and maintain day-to-day wellness and well-being.

Chronic medical conditions can be physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting. Over the past decade, we have successfully helped patients suffering from a wide range of chronic illnesses, disorders, and injuries manage the symptoms associated with their condition.
Autoimmune disorders and inflammation, for example, can have a negative impact on every system in the body. Inflammation alone has been linked to allergies, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, digestive disorders, heart disease, and a cascade of other medical conditions.
At Village Acupuncture, we often combine acupuncture with herbal medicine, dietary plans, and other treatments based on a patient’s particular symptoms, medical needs, and long-term health goals to help them feel better and get back to living the life they deserve.
